ResNet provides users with a single wired 100MB Ethernet connection to the UNO network and Internet.  If your computer does not already have an Ethernet network interface, they can be purchased at many office/computer supply stores.  You will also need an Ethernet network cable (CAT5 with RJ-45 connectors) to connect your PC to the network outlet in your room.

At this time, ResNet supports only personal computers utilizing the following operating systems:

• Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
• Windows Vista
• Mac OS X
• Linux

ResNet does not support the sharing of connections through hubs, switches, routers, or wireless access points.  Non-PC devices (game consoles, network phones, etc.) are not supported.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Your computer should be equipped with software that protects it from network-based hazards.  This software should include firewall, anti-virus, and anti-spyware protection.  It is also very important to keep your operating system updated.
